Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

1. Overview

This policy explains what data Today's Video (“we”, “us”), available at talkupchat.org, collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run the product, we don't sell your data, and you can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data — your email address and authentication identifiers, managed by our authentication provider, Clerk. We store your user ID and email alongside your app data.
  • Payment data — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details; we store your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and purchase history (for credits and billing support).
  • Generated content — the prompts you write, the trends you pick, the story scripts and videos generated for you, and sharing settings. Videos are stored so you (and, if you share them, others) can watch them.
  • Usage and technical data — credit balances and usage history, job statuses, timestamps, and error diagnostics (via our error-monitoring tooling) needed to operate the service, enforce limits, and fix failures.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the product: generate scripts, render videos, and show your library.
  • To bill subscriptions and credits, and to refund failed renders.
  • To enforce rate limits, moderation rules, and our Terms.
  • To debug failures and keep the service reliable.
  • To contact you about your account or important service changes. We do not send marketing email without your consent.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers (processors) required to run the product:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management.
  • Stripe — payments, subscriptions, and billing.
  • AI model providers — your prompts and chosen trends are sent to our script-generation and video-rendering providers to produce your content.
  • Hosting and database infrastructure, and error monitoring.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of the service and its users. Videos you explicitly make public are visible to anyone with the link and may appear in the community showcase.

5. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete a video, it disappears from your library immediately, any public share link stops resolving, and we delete the video file from our storage. When your account is deleted, we cancel any active subscription, delete your account record and everything linked to it (videos, scripts, credit history), and remove your stored video files. Billing records are retained where required for tax and accounting purposes.

Copies already downloaded by you or others, and previews cached by third parties (for example a messaging app's link preview or a CDN edge), are outside our control and may persist for a time after deletion.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location (including under GDPR and similar laws), you have the right to:

  • access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • delete your account and personal data (“right to be forgotten”);
  • export your data in a portable format;
  • object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights — including full account deletion — email support@talkupchat.org from your account email. We respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication sessions (via Clerk) and security. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, secrets are managed through our hosting provider, payment card data never touches our servers, and access to production data is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify you as required by law.

9. International transfers

Our infrastructure and providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email before they take effect.
