Just read the TREX paper - can agent-driven exploration really automate fine-tuning?

Testing if automated fine-tuning can replace manual hyperparameter search in production

The TREX paper proposes using agents to explore fine-tuning configurations via tree-based methods. In theory, this could automate tedious hyperparameter tuning. But in production, I'm skeptical about agent reliability and computational costs versus our current manual grid search. Need to discuss real-world trade-offs for deploying such systems.
